These masks are hand carved and feature finely detailed brass embellishment to the eyes and forehead. These masks are used during harvest ceremonies. The basic concept of these rituals is the belief that the soil is sacred, as it belonged to the ancestors. The Tikar people were warriors, who once conquered the land in West Cameroon. They were also known as the Bamoun tribe.
