This striking, authentic Bolga basket has been hand woven by the local people in and around the town of Bolgatanga in Northern Ghana. The baskets are woven from elephant grass which is either dyed with bright colours or left in its natural state. The handles are generally made of goat skin for comfort and strength. These amazingly versatile baskets can be used traditionally for shopping or as a beautiful décor item. Use them as a picnic basket, to store kiddies’ toys, magazines, towels, toilet rolls or much, much more. For ease of transport, the basket is pushed together with other baskets so may appear misshapen at first. To restore the shape simply spray with cold water and press back into shape. Leave to air dry.
